The Cinque Terre are five coastal villages in the province of La Spezia in the Liguria region of Italy. They have come to be among the most popular areas of Italy among tourists. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all encapsulated in a national park by the same name. The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The five villages are, from west to east (i.e., from Genoa towards La Spezia): Monterosso al Mare - Vernazza - Corniglia - Manarola - Riomaggiore.



Portofino (Ligurian: Portofin) is a small Italian fishing village, comune and tourist resort located in the province of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. The town crowded round its small harbour is considered to be among the most beautiful Mediterranean ports.

According to Pliny the Elder, Portofino was founded by the Romans and named Portus Delphini, or Port of the Dolphin, because of the large number of dolphins that inhabited the Tigullian Gulf.



S. Margherita Ligure is a comune (municipality) in the province of Genoa in the Italian region Liguria, located about 35 km southeast of Genoa, in the Tigullio traditional area.

Santa Margherita Ligure borders the following municipalities: Camogli, Portofino, Rapallo. It has a port, used for both touristic and fishing activities. Part of comune territory is included in the Regional Natural Park of Portofino.



Rapallo is a commune in the province of Genoa, in Liguria, Italy.As of 2003 it counts approximately 34,000 inhabitants, it is part of the Tigullio Gulf and is located in between Portofino and Chiavari.

The climate is moderate and the main part of town is on fairly level land. Many of the villas are built in the hills that rise immediately behind the city to protect them from strong northern winds.




Sestri Levante is a town in Liguria, Italy. It is approximately 56 kilometers south of Genova and is set on a promontory. It has 2 bays: "Bay of the Fables" and the "Bay of Silence". The population was 19.356 in 2001. There are many things to see during the day and, especially during summer, to do. It is the sister city of Santa Cruz, California.
